Seein’ It In Color
January 23rd, 2021
Again had a couple days this past week where it was global warmingly mild out for a January day, so decided to take advantage of it being so, and went out to just do some random shooting. As is the usual case, I had absolutely nothing in mind as to what, and where, to go shoot… but, for some reason, just had in mind to capture – color… wanting to focus on capturing color… so, that dictates the theme of what you’ll see.
Since I now inconveniently live back in my home town, I drove back over to where I predominantly have lived, when I have found myself back here in the area of the home of my youth, across the Missouri River over into Omaha, and wandered around it’s downtown area.
First thing to catch my eye was the bold colors of this blue dumpster, and green and yellow garage area behind it, shown here to the right.
I do not know if I have yet still to fully figure out the X-Pro3, and it’s whole color thing… I mean, the Fuji system is fancied over it’s film simulations that can be set in camera and shot with… but, I always thought that it was if one shot JPEGs only, that all that was baked into… but, as I have said before, my discovering that it also applies to it’s RAF raw files, to which I have not found how to just simply shoot, un-recipe’d images, and just straight images.
I thought I may have found so, and zero’ing out, and shutting off all the in-camera stuff that one can have applied to their images, but still find that it still shows being shot in a film simulation… which again, I have just figured is how it has to be, and can’t get out of the camera doing so… which as I wrote late last year, I just created my own camera color profile, that I can set it to in post.
Yellow, Blue, Green
Red Bookended In Grey
That above was just a block up and around the corner from the previous. And the pillar thingies there, sandwiching the bold red gas line thingie (I think), were actually grey, not just desaturated… had never seen them in just metallic grey before… but, they just added to making the bold red boldly stand out more.
Too bad those two dumpsters above, weren’t by the flashy blue one from the first shot, and have all three primary colored dumpsters dukin’ it out for attention.
Was a crystal clear day, as can be seen… a penetrating blue Winter sky with absolutely no character to it aside from it’s blueness.
Clearance 6' 5"
I have yet to add any photos to my Photography section, from this current calendar year… because, I don’t feel I have taken any worthy shots that are keepers to place in it… But, that last one, above right, maybe… and the Yellow Balloon one above… will see.
Because all the images I have taken so far this year, are just empty, blah, shots… nothing that speaks of anything… tired of just the empty, meaningless shots.
That is why I have been excited about the new series of creative images that I am wanting to do… but, am still trying to figure out how to do. Which is not a cop-out, I want to be shooting and doing them! But, is literally a question of how to go about and execute the shots… which I keep saying, and don’t elaborate as to what is the obstacle, because doing so, will reveal what the series will consist of, which I don’t want to give away and spoil. I do want to be working on it, creating and shooting it though… what is the ol’ saying, “necessity is the mother of invention”? I am hoping that will be the case, and I will have an a-ha! moment, where I will have devised a method in which to do so.
Because it is again something I really want to be working on, for the creative juices are flowing with it, that I haven’t had for four long years now, in my sporadic creative spurts that I seem to only have.
Anyway… will continue workin’ on trying to figure it out.
Meanwhile, as can be seen to the left here, and closing out below, I had grown weary of my color enamored shooting… also, I did have some other shots in mind that I was looking to try and capture – the architectural images of Akira Takaue… of which these (well namely the two below, as the one to the left here, is just another one of those red gas line thingies), are not anywhere in the same ballpark as his work… but, was the inspiration in trying find any interesting architectural elements, to emulate his type of work.

All right… so, that’s it.
